For international students to obtain a study permit at South African academic institutions it is compulsory to provide proof of medical cover with a South African registered medical scheme

Doctor visits & medicine

· Your allocated service provider is the starting point for all onsultations,medical

   care and medication.

· Make an appointment to see the doctor and phone for cancellation.

· Ask your doctor to only prescribe medicine on the medicine list (formulary).

· Have your membership card with you at all times.

 

Out-of-network / emergency & specialist benefits

· Phone 0800 002 449 for a pre-authorisation number.

· You may use your emergency benefits to visit any doctor after hours.

· Emergency and specialist benefits are limited - refer to specific benefits of the

   options.

· Your allocated provider will refer you to the best specialist for treatment.
